Reco Electro
The Brasilian reco-reco is a very interesting traditional instrument.
Out of all the instruments in the scraper family, it’s definitely one of the more chaotic ones. I wanted to create a modern remix of it. The goal was a tighter, more controlled sound that would be a versatile platform for effects processing.
The Reco Electro features two expansion springs suspended on a steel chassis with a stereo piezo system on separate outputs. It’s purely a piezo-electric instrument, thus, it does not (by design) boast any acoustic volume to write home about.
The foam damper shortens the spring sustain drastically and the additional included foam pieces can be added inside the springs to get an even drier sound. You can also prepare the springs with rubber bands, aluminum foil or whatever comes to mind!
There are no limits or rules on how to use this WTF instrument, I can’t wait to see how you use it!
